Easy to make

Hummus

+ 4 different flavor additions

keto/paleo/vegan

What the boss needs:

INGREDIeNTS

Basic hummus foundation

1 Can Organic Garbanzo Beans

1/4 Cup Organic Sesame Tahini

3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive or Avocado Oil

3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice (1 whole lemon)

1/2 Teaspoon Sea Salt

1/2 Teaspoon Pepper (white pepper is preferable)

Flavor Additions

roasted Garlic hummus

  • 4 Large Garlic Cloves or 2 Tablespoons Diced Garlic in a jar

  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Coconut Oil

  • 1/2 White Onion or Scallion (optional)

*In a skillet on medium low heat, add the oil, and let it warm up.  Then add your garlic and optional onions and slowly, with boss lady patience, sauté until golden brown. Add 80% to the food processor with the hummus and blend completely. Use the last 20% to garnish the top with a little bit of olive or avocado oil.

*Tip: put your oil in a squeeze bottle (purchase info below) with a fine head, so you can make design swirls to garnish your hummus making it look like a gourmet!

Lemon hummus

  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice (add this to the foundation ingredients so it's a total of 1 1/2 lemons or 4 Tablespoons of Santa Cruz lemon juice)

  • The Zest of 1 Lemon

  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Thyme (optional)

  • 1 Tablespoon Roasted Pine Nuts or Sunflower Seeds (optional)

  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Avocado Oil for garnish

*Add the extra lemon juice and 80% of the lemon zest to the hummus in the food processor, and blend completely.  Roast the pine nuts or sunflower seeds on medium heat until golden brown.  Add the rest of the lemon zest, roasted nuts or seeds and drizzled olive oil for garnish.

fresh herb hummus

  • 3 Tablespoons Fresh Herbs like Dill, Basil, Thyme, Lemon Thyme, Parsley, Oregano, Cilantro, etc.

  • 1 Tablespoon Roasted Pine Nuts or Sunflower Seeds (optional) for garnish

  • 1 Teaspoon Boss Lady Spice Blend or Paprika for garnish

  • 2 Tablespoons Crumbled Goat Cheese or Parmesan for garnish

  • 1 Tablespoon Pine Nuts or Sunflower Seeds Toasted

  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Avocado Oil for garnish

* Add 80% of the herbs to the hummus in the food processor, and blend completely. I like a variety of herbs (whatever I have in the garden) mixed together, but you can use just 1 kind of herb for a more specific flavor. Next, grab your sunflower seeds or pine nuts, and toast them on medium heat in a small sauté pan until golden brown. Now, add the rest of the herbs, Boss Lady Spice Recipe or sweet paprika, sunflower seeds or pine nuts, crumbled goat cheese or parmesan (optional), and olive oil drizzle to garnish.

spicy hummus

  • 1/4 Cup Jarred Sliced Jalapeño's or 1 Fresh seeded Jalapeño

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper or Chipotle Pepper seasoning

  • 1/4 Cup Peppadews sliced for garnish

  • 1/4 Cup Cilantro for garnish

*Place the sliced jalapeño's in the food processor, along with the cayenne or chipotle seasoning, and blend completely with your hummus base. Add the beautiful red peppadews and cilantro for garnish.

How to make it like a boss:

  • The first and most important thing you will need is a food processor or blender.   The type of food processor or blender you have will determine how creamy the consistency will be.  It will taste good no matter what, the consistency will just vary.

    • Side info for the Boss: The only way to make the super creamy, store bought type hummus is to use a Vitamix Blender (listed below).  If you like to cook, having a Vitamix will change your life.  You might hyperventilate and have buyers anxiety like I did when purchasing it, because it's sooooo darn expensive! But a Vitamix is so magical, easy to clean and useful in every area of cooking, that it is worth EVERY penny.  #foodforthought

  • First, open your can of organic, low sodium chickpeas, drain the water in the can into a cup, and save it for later.

  • Next, put the can of chickpeas into your food processor or blender.

  • Add 1/4 cup of organic tahini, 3 tablespoons olive or avocado oil, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, salt and white pepper, and blend on high until fully incorporated.

    • Boss Tip: I like to use the 100% organic freshly squeezed lemon juice by Santa Cruz (listed below). It lasts forever and is so easy to just pull out of the fridge #nosqueezingnecessary.  If you do use fresh lemons and squeeze them, make sure and have a lemon press on hand because it's fast, keeps the seeds out and easy to clean! (listed below)

  • The longer you blend the hummus, the smoother it will get.  Take a blending break, and scrape the sides and underneath the blade if you are using a blender, because some beans will most likely get stuck .

  •  If the hummus is really dry and needs some extra liquid (mine always does), add in some of the liquid you saved from the chickpea can.  Just add about a tablespoon at a time so you don't overdo it, because too much liquid will make your hummus runny...no one wants runny hummus! You can also add a little more olive or avocado oil here to create the same outcome. Blend and add more water and/or oil as needed to create the consistency of hummus you like! #tothebossestaste

  • Now look at the homemade, low sodium, zero preservative hummus you created, and add any of the flavor additions above--or create your own garnish and enjoy!

That's right, you just created homemade hummus for your belly and impressed everyone around you. #likeabossdoes
